You
can find Maine truck driving jobs
in most regions of the state. Perhaps the best place to start
searching for a job is southern Maine. If you are driving a tractor
trailer in southern Maine or most of eastern Maine, you will
definitely be accessing Interstate 95.
Maine's
Roadways
I-95 is by
far the most traveled roadway in the entire state of Maine. It
crosses the New Hampshire/Maine border near Kittery, Maine, and
continues to Portland. In Portland, the interstate splits into I-495
and I-295, and then continues as I-95, heading north to Brunswick. At
Brunswick you can continue north on I-95, or exit onto US route 1.
From
Brunskwick, I-95 continues north,
through Augusta, Waterville, and Pittsfield. At Pittsfield, I-95
turns east until it reaches Bangor, where it then continues
northward, finally veering northeast after Sherman Mills. Houlton is
the last city I-95 passes through in the United States.
I-495 curves to the west and then
heads north to Lewiston. At Lewiston, I-495 heads northeast where it
reconnects with I-95 just south of Augusta.
I-295
loops around the city of
Portland, Maine.
US
Route 1 begins near Brunswick,
heading east from Brunswick to Rockland, where the route follows the
coastline to Bucksport, Maine, where the road heads east to
Ellsworth. At Ellsworth, US Route 1 once again follows the coast
until it heads north near Whiting.
US
Route 1 then heads north along the
US/Canada border until it crosses into Canada.
Northwest Maine
If you are
working in northwest Maine, you will certainly want a map. When
looking at a map, you will see that many of the major roadways in
that corner of the state are gated private roads. Much of this land
is owned by large timber corporations. If you live in northwest
Maine and are interested in Maine trucking jobs, you will want to
start your search at the local timber companies.
